A Custom-Made Residence with Unique Design

Imagine waking up to the sights and sounds of the ocean, in a unique Malibu home with immense aesthetic appeal. This vision has been brought to life by Bestor Architecture, who recently presented a small, wooden house in Malibu, California, offering a heightened living experience.

This compact structure, which covers a modest 45 square meters, is comprised of bespoke wooden elements with the exclusive craftsmanship of the local artisans involved in its construction. The result? A beautiful, custom-made residence that reflects the natural surrounding environment.

An Epitome of Uncompromised Comfort

Despite its seemingly diminutive size, the house is designed to accommodate up to six people comfortably. It blends style and function, flaunting a sloping roof that allows for ample living space, loft sleeping areas, and a bathroom with plenty of elbow space.

  • The house features large windows that fill the interiors with natural light, while offering panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean.
  • The living room, kitchen, and dining area are seamlessly joined for an integrated living experience.
  • The unique design also features a large deck that extends from the living area, creating an open-air living space that residents can enjoy.

Sustainable Design Elements

The house was built with sustainability in mind. The architects used beech wood and Douglas fir planks in the construction to replicate the environment in the structure. The exterior was painted with a unique technique known as Shou Sugi Ban, a traditional Japanese method that scorches the surface of the wood to make it weather, fire and pest-resistant. This technique does not require chemicals, and is not only aesthetically pleasing but also environmentally friendly.

In summary, this small wooden house by Bestor Architecture is an innovative take on modern living, offering organic design, sustainable materials, and comfortable living combined in a unique oceanfront package.
